There are so many photos like this that emerged during WWI. Imagery such as this is significant because these soldiers evoke a sense of carefree-ness. There was something to be said about sending your husband off to war; there was something romantic about it. I believe this perspective still exists today considering how many 'Army Wives' speak out and share their story in the media.
