Washed Away Another take on Thor's Well at Cape Perpetua. This was one of the last pictures I took before deciding the water was just a little to high for me to want to continue... Yes, it is as close as it looks. This is 16mm. #USA -- Find articles on #Adventure #Travel , #Outdoor Pursuits, and #Extreme Sports at or find us on

Thor's Well an amazing place to visit located at Cape Perpetua, Oregon, the surf surge rock without doubt is very unique. In any event, it makes a great photo. It occurs at a moderate to high tide with strong surf. However, it is not easy to take a snap of the place because of sharp rocks are everywhere. Plus, a very strong surge could sweep right up and be very dangerous. The hole can be seen from the parking area at the far end of the rock shelf on the north side of Cook's Chasm.

Washed Away by Nathaniel Reinhart: Thor's Well, located on Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coastline is a salt water fountain powered by the Pacific. While you can see it from the over look, it's so far away and right near the edge so it is hard to distinguish it from the incoming waves. To truly appreciate this you have to stand just a couple of feet next to it. Although, whatever you do though, don't fall in! #Oregon |

Thor's Well in Cape Perpetua - For at least 6,000 years Native Americans hunted for mussels, crabs, sea urchins, and clams along the coast near Cape Perpetua. Evidence of their lives can still be found in the huge piles of discarded mussel shells that lie along the shore near the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center
