Beach reading essential. One of my mother's favorite books... I can still see it lying on the back of the sofa open waiting for her to pick it back up again.
This is THE Book definitely worth reading *****Publication Date: 1966**** "This is a world where sex is a success weapon, where love is the smiling mask of hate, where slipping youth and fading beauty are ever-present specters. It is a world where the magic tickets to peace or oblivion are 'dolls' - the insider's word for pills - pep pills, sleeping pills, ...and pills to chase the truth away." .. one of my favorites that I reread a few times!
Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls. The "adult" book we all read in high school.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt; Book Club pick for August, 2014 -- REALLY DID NOT like this book!! No one in our Book Club liked it! Pretentious, long and boring!
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Pulitzer Prize Winner 2014. the plot involves a young boy’s miraculous survival of a tragedy, an art heist, and New York City society.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt is the 2014 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction! A beautifully written coming-of-age novel with exquisitely drawn characters that follows a grieving boy’s entanglement with a small famous painting that has eluded destruction, a book that stimulates the mind and touches the heart.

Rob Hodgson book jacket for The Catcher in the Rye - because I like Rob Hodgsons illustrations, and the way he has illustrated it allows the image to carry on to the spine and back cover, he hasn't limited himself within the frame of the cover
Catcher in the Rye: DEFINITELY worth reading. This is a coming of age book that helped me, during the summer before ninth grade, learn more about myself. This book is about a 16-year-old boy named Holden Caulfield that acts a little older than 16 and does things a little differently than most 16-year-olds. I fell in love with the book at age 14, so I'm sure this is a priceless book for all ages. :D

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment (Eckhart Tolle) | I definitely want to read this!
The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle. Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present. The journey is thrilling, and along the way, shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, "the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death."

Book worth reading and movie worth seeing! Let our boys watch it too as a lesson in civil rights history
Great addition to our site from @yesnofilms - "The Help is one of my all-time favorite movies, which shouldn't be a surprise because the book was also fantastic. I reviewed it on my film blog back in August 2011, and since then, I bought the Blu-ray combo pack and have watched it multiple times...it's not a 'feel good' movie, but it's one that is definitely worth watching."
One of my favorite movies: The Help* (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.
Ranting About 'The Help' • A review worth reading for Southerners of a certain age. I will cop to reading the book, watching the movie, and mostly enjoying it, save a few squirmy moments that hit a little close to home. Still, it's always valuable thing to consider another viewpoint.
"The Help" (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work for. Honestly I almost didn't watch this film because I thought it was gonna be another typical racist movie where all white people are evil etc etc. (Let it Go already !) Honestly I was pleasantly surprised with this film and I absolutely LOVED it ! Great movie !!
THE HELP (2011) - A sassy young writer in the Civil-Rights era American South takes on the privileged white establishment by asking "the help," their impoverished African-American maids, cooks, and nannies, to tell her their stories. What can I say? I finally watched it on DVD and enjoyed it. Yes, the film is absolutely Hollywood product - overproduced, simplistic, and loaded with easily identifiable villains and hero(ine)s, but I loved the performances and characters.
The Help (2011) - I can't believe it took me this long to watch this movie...SO good!
'cause it's his favorite

1999 - The Hours by Michael Cunningham - Drawing inventively on the life and work of Virginia Woolf, The Hours tells the story of a group of contemporary characters struggling with the conflicting claims of love and inheritance, hope and despair.
1998 The Hours – Michael Cunningham -A trio of stories around the writer, Virginia Woolf. In the first, set in 1923, Woolf is writing her novel, Mrs. Dalloway. The second story is on a woman reading the novel in 1949 Los Angeles, while the third is on a woman in present-day New York who has been nicknamed Mrs. Dalloway by her boyfriend....
