An interesting tradition has recently started on the bridge crossing the Rhine river. Couples will take a lock, and attach it to the bridge's fence and throw the key into Rhine for love and good luck. So, all the way across the whole bridge the fence is covered in locks!

I think I probably have three of this map. Between our two tours in Germany we have toured every castle open to tourists, taken 4 cruises up the Rhine, and one time it took us 4 days to travel 26 miles during wine tasting season. Oh my! :)

Legend has it that if you and your loved one attach a padlock to any surface of the famous bridge and then throw away the key into the Arno River below, your love will last forever. Millions of couples have come to the Ponte Vecchio for expressly this reason, to lock in their love and throw away the key for eternity.....
