The color scheme -- pulled from the extensive collection of McCoy pottery -- supplies a soothing palette for the sunny spot. A slim base on the pedestal table ensures space for four comfy upholstered chairs, making the nook useable as well as beautiful.
When Pollan bought the place 12 years ago, there were just two raised flower beds. "I was drawn to all the old things in the house," he says, citing the original pine beams and crystal doorknobs.
