Arnold Friberg The Prayer at Valley Forge, a depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge. One of the Hero's all time favorites.
Artist: Arnold Friberg Year: 1992 Painting: "The Prayer at Valley Forge" This is one of my favorite paintings.
"The Prayer at Valley Forge" by Arnold Friberg is one of the best known paintings of the American Revolution. It depicts George Washington at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in prayer on his knees beside his horse Nelson at the Continental Army's encampment, during the terrible winter of 1777-1778. One of my favorite paintings.
"Prayer at Valley Forge" by Arnold Friberg Is one of my favorite paintings and a reminder how important the horses are to our country. It depicts George Washington at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in prayer on his knees beside his horse Nelson.
Arnold Friberg (1913-2010) was an American illustrator and painter noted for his religious and patriotic works. He is perhaps best known for his 1975 painting The Prayer at Valley Forge, a depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge
President George Washington George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731] – December 14, 1799), was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, serving as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and later as the new republic's first President. He also presided over the convention that drafted the Constitution. Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, is named after him.

Betsy Ross, American Revolution, American History, America Land, 4Th Of July, First American Flag, United States
#ThrowbackThursday Although it is a bit of a controversy in American history, the American flag was first formed in 1776 when George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross asked Betsy Ross to sew the first American flag. What started as a mere piece of cloth with stars & stripes, has turned into an icon that represents freedom for a nation.
Betsy Ross made the first American flag The Betsy Ross story is the most tenacious piece of fiction involving the flag. There simply is no credible historical evidence — letters, diaries, newspaper accounts, bills of sale — that Ross (then known as Elizabeth Claypoole) either made or had a hand in designing the American flag before it made its debut in 1777.

Betsy Ross made the first flag of the United States of America out of the finest, strongest fiber available, hemp fabric. "It is also said that the finest laces of the olden days were always made of hemp in preference to any other fiber." -Herndon, p.154.
Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag in 1777. It consisted of 13 stripes (alternating red and white) and 13 stars (white stars on a blue background), and looked fairly similar to the flag of Great Britain

Betsy Ross and George Washington. In 1775, a committee appointed by the Continental Congress met with General Washington and a “mysterious old professor” in Cambridge, Massachusetts to recommend a plan for the American flag. From this meeting was revealed the design for a flag - a symbol of freedom and of the vast destiny of the new nation.

“In the Continental Congress somebody wanted to know which one was General George Washington. He was sitting up in the gallery. And a friend said, ‘Well, if you want to see which one Washington is, when Congress goes to prayer, he’ll be the tall man who gets on his knees."

George Washington: "No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency." http://www.whatwouldthefoundersdo.org/showQuote.aspx?q=144
As we prepare to celebrate America’s 238th Birthday, let us not forget that it was the prayers of the faithful, their courage, their belief and trust in Almighty God that brought forth and established this great nation. Our Founding Fathers realized this and the importance of invoking God’s help in order to have a more perfect Union.
This painting of George Washington in prayer at Valley Forge during the American Revolutionary War depicts a good example of an honorable leader who recognized his need to rely on a power greater than himself in the performance of his duty and defending the noble cause of liberty.

Tuesday Morning Prayer; From our 1st President George Washington's Journal: O Lord our God, most mighty and merciful father, I thine unworthy creature and servant, do once more approach thy presence. Though not worthy to appear before thee, because of my natural corruptions, and the many sins and transgressions which I have committed against thy divine majesty; yet I beseech thee, for the sake of him in whom thou art well pleased, the Lord Jesus Christ, to admit me to render thee deserved thanks and praises for thy manifold mercies extended toward me, for the quiet rest & repose of the past night, for food, rainment, health, peace, liberty, and the hopes of a better life through the merits of thy dear son's bitter passion. And O kind father continue thy mercy and favor to me this day, and ever hereafter; purpose all my lawful undertakings; let me have all my directions from thy holy spirit; and success from thy bountiful hand. Let the bright beams of thy light so shine into my heart, and enlighten my mind in understanding thy blessed word, that I may be enabled to perform thy will in all things, and effectually resist all temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil. Preserve and defend our rulers in church & state. Bless the people of this land, be a father to the fatherless, a comforter to the comfortless, a deliverer to the captives, and a physician to the sick. Let thy blessings guide this day and forever through Jesus Christ in whose blessed form of prayer I conclude my weak petitions -- Our Father.

George Washington, Delaware Artist, American History, American War, American Revolutionary War, Death Kunstler, War Revolutionary, Mckonkey S Ferry
Realistic Painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware. Artist Mort Kunstler completed detailed research on the actual crossing and cataloged the errors in Leutze's painting. Then he created the above painting, which he thinks best represents that frozen night's journey across the river.
Washington's Crossing: McKonkey's Ferry, Dec. 26, 1776 / One of America's most famous images, a painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River, got much of the story wrong: The American commander wouldn't have stood triumphantly on a rowboat in daylight, but on a ferry bracing himself against a fierce snowstorm on Christmas night.
Mort Künstler, a painter based in Long Island, who is known for his historical images, has created his own version of Washington crossing the Delaware River that hews closer to the facts than the more famous version.
A more accurate depiction of George Washington crossing the Delaware. He crossed in a flat bottomed Durham boat with sides..not exactly this.
