Deep Space, Deep in the Forest Constantinos Hinis // Flickr: The foreground is a several minute exposure. The stars alone (and the meteor) is a vertical panorama of 3 shots (stacked 5x for noise reduction). The Galaxy is a stitched panorama, made of 8 sets of 5 photos each. Total of 57 combined. This is beautiful.

View of the 'Milky Way' in the direction of the constellation of Sagittarius - we're 2/3 of the way out on the spiral arm & so are seeing into the star density of the Galactic Center.

Isn't this amazing?? One of the more beautiful Milky Way photos I've seen. This one is taken over the two small towns of Gerlach and Empire, Nevada.

the amazing Milky Way -- BIG goal this year is learning how to take pics like this

I'm surprised nobody has pinned this by now! Video footage from El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, and one of the best places (As you will see) in the world to film/photograph stars and galaxies... if you've never seen this, I can honestly say you have probably never seen nature and the vast span of stars in our sky quite like this..

Inspired during a visit to Fort Davis, Texas, home of McDonald Observatory and dark night skies, photographer Larry Landolfi created this tantalizing fantasy view. The composited image suggests the Milky Way is a heavenly extension of a deserted country road. Image-credit:nasa...
