This is a super cool idea! Put some objects in the bag, and let kids pull one out to tell the next part of the story! Some kids would REALLY look forward to this!

Story Bag- Place objects inside and have children draw one piece at a time and tell a story. Great practice for creative writing and possibly funny stories.

Word boxes: If a student doesn't know how to spell a word, they check the card in the box. If it's not there, they bring the card to me, we spell it together, and then the card goes back in its spot when they're done. Promotes independent writers!

Word Box - If a student doesn't know how to spell a word, they check the card in the box. If it's not there, they bring the card to the teacher. Teacher & student spell it together, & then the card goes back in its spot when they're done.

I am so doing this! Have the students make their writing "more colorful" by using paint strips.

Write a boring adjective at the bottom of the paint strip on the most boring color. Give each student a paint strip and they can use a thesaurus or a word wall to think of "more colorful" words for their strip. Or use for Word Work

Use for synonyms eg grande, pequeno, pienso que etc

End of the year foldable, completed using figurative language, synonyms and antonyms, with a glyph used for the center of the cover. Love this idea for end of the year!

Pizza poems! - Would be cute to do with favorite food. Good practice at adjectives as well!

After reading the fun book "Yum, Yuck", we brainstormed all the words we could think of about pizza. Students wrote pizza poems and published them onto their own slice of pizza. A writing idea for yr 1
