SHINE Classroom Management Poster...Free! I think I'm going to introduce this on the first day back . . . .

Classroom management...Kiddos always need reminders about how to line up. Love the idea of a "4S line"

this is my favorite first day activity... find your class picture from whatever grade you teach, scan it and ask the kiddos to decide which one was you when you were their age! this was from when i taught first grade

Cassandra Butler, this is EXACTLY what doris did ..only she used points instead of stars (however, if they earned ALL their points for the day she did say they got "All Stars." I kind of like stars better, it keeps a visible reminder!

Used these this year. These are the best- most clearly stated class rules I've ever had. We added "Be safe." to the bottom of it. "Let others learn." has solved a lot of other mini issues that always come up.

Your Job -vs- My Job: This is a great back to school activity. We met up at the small group table and discussed jobs that students might have, and the jobs a teacher has to do. We discussed what would happen if we didn't do these things? Once we created our anchor chart we all signed it as a contract reminding ourselves of the importance of being responsible and doing our jobs in the classroom.

(G) "Classroom Rules" Have a discussion the first day about what it looks like to follow these rules. ie: be ready to learn- be in your seat, quiet and ready with all of your supplies and books you will need.

Ms. Third Grade first day of school -(or use as a good icebreaker for adults!)

SIX Music Classroom Rules POSTERS -There is one poster/page for each letter in the work MUSIC and one rule per letter

This person's entire Flickr series is great. I really want to have engaging display boards like this and change my displays constantly. Gahhh so good.

The Rhythm Dice Game: great for rhythm review the first days back in school or make one to reinforce a new note value. Divide class into 2 teams. One student rolls die (I am going to use a spinner that I have) and claps the rhythm of the corresponding color(number).
