The Color Purple is a 1982 epistolary novel by American author Alice Walker which won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Award for Fiction. It was later adapted into a film and musical of the same name. In my opinion the movie was great but the book was better.

There's a short part of the book that's a bit too graphic for my taste and could have been left out. Otherwise, it was a great story and completely unique from anything else I've ever read. I hope the movie is good!
