WRITING: Activities like this really can get a childs brain going. when they have to break down a sentance numberous times, they learn to really understand it.

I like this BUT I would change it slightly to make a better acronym. "BEST" (beginning, evidence/events, solution/summary, title--> which prompts the writer to review their writing to see if the main idea is evident) W.O.

Wow, I needed this this year! I had 2 or 3 that would not capitalize or add punctuation or even try to spell correctly this year, much less put their name on their paper.

Characters for an Epic Tale - I like the idea of using this as an adjective lesson. Provide an example for kiddos, then have them create their own using adjectival phrases to describe the characters. Don't use this one in the class tho, a few questionable types!
