Happy Earth Day! One of the 9 Fair Trade Principles of the Fair Trade Federation is to Cultivate Environmental Stewardship ~ Fair Trade seeks to offer current generations the ability to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Members actively consider the implications of their decisions on the environment and promote the responsible stewardship of resources. Members reduce, reuse, reclaim, and recycle materials wherever possible.

I just watched Coffee Addiction. Very interesting documentary. I encourage everyone to please make an effort to try and purchase Fair Trade coffee when you can.

CAN YOU SEE ME? Naila is guided by her younger brother in a camp in Charsadda District. They have been displaced by the 2010 flooding, the worst in Pakistan’s recorded history. Naila, the eldest of three children, has been blind since birth. Her condition is treatable, but at a cost of over US$1,000, well beyond her family’s means. Her father hopes one of the agencies providing flood relief will be able to assist them with the treatment. - Pakistan, 2010 ©UNICEF/Noorani…

Jamila (age 15) sits at home in Gaza City. She lost both her legs, and her sister, Shaza, was killed during the December 2008-January 2009 Israeli military incursion. A missile hit their home as they played on the roof. The one-month conflict killed 1,300 Gazans, including 350 children. Jamila’s photograph was taken by Rana, 18, during a UNICEF-organized children’s photography workshop. - 2009 © UNICEF/Rana Matar - http://www.unicef.org/photography
