Just reading this today and it's stunning. Photographs in there are genuinely creepy. Wonderful.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children- A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

The Giver by Lois Lowry - I believe production has started on a movie version...I love it when my favorite books become movies!

The Giver - Read. I read this when I was in middle school and I didn't like it then. So, I thought, with the movie coming out, I'd give it another shot. Still leaves a bit to be desired, but the dystopian genre always makes me think.

Books are the perfect getaway, especially when I’m in desperate need for a warmer climate, when I’m having a bad case of wanderlust, or when I just need a little excitement in my everyday life. The Shadow of the Wind by Spanish writer Carlos Ruiz Zafón was the perfect antidote for all three.

A Boy, a Writer, and a Book That Changes Everything

The Shadow of the Wind: Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Lucia Graves 2007 bc pick

This story is an incredibly sad one, a true one. I remember reading this, the story of one of the worst abuse cases ever - written by the man who was that boy. Very good book, very touching how he's taken his life and made it great, after all he's been through. It's been forever since I've read this, but some of the things in that book have permanently been stuck in my head. You just wouldn't even imagine.

A Child Called It | Dave Pelzer New paperback Book pb

This book never fails to make me cry, make me sick to my stomach and want to kill this poor child's mother. But I think everyone should read it, just to know how horrible child abuse is and that these things really happen to innocent children.

Historical Fiction, Mystery, Murder...read a review on Silver's Reviews. The fair was a success, it was over, the fair was missed, and Mr. Holmes was missing. The book was great historically...seeing all these names of people who invented things was great...the mystery surrounding Mr. Holmes was gruesome, but fit nicely into the story's plot. You will enjoy the book, but can skip some of the pages telling about the constructing of the the World's Fair Buildings.

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

The Devil In The White City by Erik Larson-Historical fiction set at the Chicago World's Fair. Learned alot about architecture and Chicago World's Fair . Also a crime novel about the first Chicago serial killer.

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. Audiobook read by Susan Lyons. Started 12/13/12. Finished 12/22/12. So much better than either of the film adaptations. Written from Mary Boleyn's POV, the book takes a very unflattering stand on Anne Boleyn and incorporates many of the legends that have been proven false. But still a great story. 4 stars.

Philippa Gregory is one of my favorite authors. I've read most of her books, maybe even all of them, and I started with. The Other Bolyn Girl, Philippa Gregory

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

Lovely Bones

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. A crime story told from the point-of-view of an autistic boy. His perceptions are as, or more, fascinating than solving the crime! My favorite Mark Haddon book.

Charlaine Harris!!

The Southern Vampire Mysteries (aka Sookie Stackhouse aka True Blood novels) by Charlaine Harris. One of my all time favorites.
