fabulous paper curtains! I am considering making them out of very thin plywood and covering them with something wonderful, or even painting them with a luminous paint finish. These are just too cool for only Halloween!
Floor made using end pieces of 2X4s. Would need to grout or caulk -- if grout, might need to use a formula such as poly mix and sawdust and steel wool to clean off excess. Need to use a polyurethane -- might need to redo that periodically.
This is my Pinterest inspiration. I really liked the drippiness and the weave - an interesting detail I had never seen done before. My version is fuller so that they can actually function to close if needed. The window in the dormer alcove is scaled down: shorter and more narrow.
Do you remember that Domino feature where they completely made over an apartment for only $2018? The part that stuck with me, other than THE WHOLE THING, was the window valances, made by staple-gunning IKEA fabric to plywood and adding ribbon trim. While I'm DIY-shy, it hasn't stopped me from collecting images of valances I like and might want to copy some day. Which got me into all this valance terminology, which I'll try to unpack below.
