Bismuth is awesome, even though its lab grown. Bismuth is a natural element, & it is an extremely rare one. It's slightly radioactive but it's half-life is so long that it might as well be considered stable. It's easy to tell that the specimen pictured above is lab grown because of its Hoppered shape and natural bismuth isn't rainbow colored. http://www.spiritrockshop.com/Bismuth_Crystals.html

This is a picture of a naturally-occurring Bismuth crystal. They are amazing and have awesome commercial and pharmaceutical benefits… but not for your skin. Many makeup companies use a derivative of this ore in their cosmetics because it has that beautiful iridescence to it. They advertise the benefits of “natural” ingredients in mineral makeup.

Well arsenic is natural too, and Bismuth Oxychloride has a very similar chemical structure to arsenic! This ingredient is a by-product of copper and lead refining, and about 75% of people who use it are allergic to it. It is a very heavy metal, and can cause clogged pores and rashes. It also aggravates acne and roseacea. Check your cosmetics for Bismuth Oxychloride.

.Mineral crystals grow under a variety of conditions. Slow cooling of magma (melted rock) deep within the Earth generally leads to a rock such as granite with visible crystals of feldspar, quartz, mica, amphibole and other minerals. Water in the magma can even facilitate pegmatite formation. Pegmatite is an igneous rock com-posed of mineral crystals with a diameter of several centimeters which, on rare occasions, can be meters.
