    From what I can glean, the cause of his eye-mis-alignment, is probably from a cranial nerve palsy - a weakness in the nerve that enables an eye to turn.

    it was, in part, compounded by a thyroid condition which can also attribute to short life span if untreated; many people have their eyes reset (sunken) to reduce the "bug-eyed" effect, Marty used it to his advantage. Great, great comedic wit. Young Frankenstein pure genius written by Gene Hackman and Mel Brooks. Still fall down laughing when watching it. I would love to see the out-takes!
