Auschwitz - Birkenau, concentration and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. From the 1942 Auschwitz became the largest site for the murder of Jews brought here under the Nazi plan for their extermination. Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Poland

The title threw me off, but just read the article. Never forget the past, or these atrocities are bound to repeat themselves.

Auschwitz II-Birkenau. One of internal gates of the camp and a road dividing sectors BIa and BIb (female camps).

This is maybe one of the most powerful pictures I have ever seen. The numbers on the arms are from prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The numbers replaced their names while at the camps and they were tattooed on so that they could be easily tracked by the Germans. This is why we study history. So this never happens again.
