Diamant Brauerei in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt Germany - In 1841, two brothers Albert and Hermann Wernecke started a small brewing company in their parent's house in Magdeburg Germany. With Albert being a skilled brewer and his brother trained in banking and the grain business, the Brauerei A.&.H. Wernecke company quickly prospered. The facility was moved to the current location in Magdeburg-Neustadt in 1843 with it's own 40 horsepower steam engine.
Continental Rubber Works (Hannover-Limmer) - s far back as 1871, the "Continental-Caoutchouc und Gutta-Percha Compagnie" was established in Hannover, manufacturing rubber for bicycle tires and industrial uses. In 1898 the focus shifted toward the ever-more demanding automobile industry, and after a swift recovery from World War I, the company prospered.
