How To: Get Out of The Christmas Tree RutAs part of our family tradition growing up, we'd always string lights around the Christmas tree the first weekend after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, we don't have the space to put up a real tree in our apartment but we still like the warm glow of a simple strand of white lights. We rounded up a handful of AT reader ideas and previous posts to make your apartment sparkle (even if you don't have the traditional Christmas tree).

This is a Christmas mantle, but the red 'swirls' made me think of purple 'tentacles' coming out of my fireplace for Halloween :D How fun would that be ?!

Gorgeous! This is exactly, perfectly what i imagine when i think of my future home! the stone walls, meeting the brick walls. with dark brown wooded floors, and big picture/ collages on the walls... so perfect in every way! oh! and dont forget the lighting!

This is similar to the color scheme we use at Xmas. Love the reindeer.

I love that this arrangement is more "wintry" than strictly "Christmas." You could add a few small branches of holly berries for color during the holidays, then remove them to enjoy the greenery longer.

Not sure what I like more about this? The fact that it's in a bedroom or the fact that it could easily be NOT Christmas OR Christmas...love the muted colors too.
