The London based creative laboratory Bare Conductive was invited to team up with Fabio Antinori and Alicja Pytlewska in order to develop a large-scale metaphor for the idea of breathing life into a textile skin. At the core of the interactive tapestries featured in their installation, Contours, are capacitive sensors applied to the objects’ substrates using conductive paint; these sensors react to the presence of a person in their immediate vicinity and can track their movement. 21 Balançoires (21 Swings). 21 Swings Exercise in musical cooperation Every spring, an interactive installation takes over a high-traffic area in Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles and sets a collective ritual. The installation offers a fresh look at the idea of cooperation, the notion that we can achieve more together than separately. The result is a giant instrument made of 21 musical swings; each swing in motion triggers different notes, all the swings together compose a piece, but some sounds only emerge from cooperation. The project stimulates ownership of the public space, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and creating a place for playing and hanging out in the middle of the city centre. A traveling version of the project is currently being made for these collective moments to spread around the world. dailytouslesjours.com A Project by Daily tous les jours Created by Mouna Andraos & Melissa Mongiat Executive Producer Antoine Clayette (2012), Hugues Monfroy (2011) Music Radwan Ghazi Moumneh Concept Team Dominique Côté, Alexandre Landry, Yolène Leroux, Luc-Alain Giraldeau Design Sébastien Dallaire, Alexandre Landry Technical Direction Eva Schindling Production Coordinator Tara DeSimone Technological Partner ESKI Technical Direction Vincent Leclerc Project Manager Josiane Mercier Programming Patrick Keroulas, Vincent de Belleval Production Philippe Savard, Marc-André Tessier Video Geoffrey Boulangé

Yet, designers of this unique structure, in the center of historic Guimarães, admit that “the contrast of environments is a playful juxtaposition of reality and fiction.” This is the Centipede Cinema, an innovative design created for the Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture. When ArchTriumph arranged the competition to design a contemporary bridge in Paris, the French Atelier Zündel Cristea decided this should be fun. So they came up with an inflatable bridge that consists of trampolines, permitting the Parisians to cross their beloved Seine in a very playful and innovative way. And this lovely idea let them achieve an excellent third place.

sun-shower: The eye-catching swimming pool in Mumbai, India, has been built to raise awareness about the threat of sea level rises as a result of global warming. It was constructed by attaching a giant aerial photograph of the New York City skyline to the floor of the pool.
