This isn't strictly knitting, but -- making a dress form that exactly fits you is one of those things that's handy no matter what. You could use duct tape, but paper tape is easier to put pins into later, and leaves less sticky residue.

a homemade dress form tutorial. THIS is a great idea for all us ladies with untypical body shapes!

Duct-tape dress form #1 (above) uses ordinary duct-tape as both the body-casting material and the final form. Duct-tape dress form #2 (not shown)is a bit more difficult but produces a closer fit.

tutorial on making your own dress form from duct tape. Could also use these instructins to make a Halloween or garden figure!

Use expanding foam from the hardware store to stuff the dress-form.That stuff hardens well enough you will never have to re-stuff it, but still ok with pins, etc. To lessen volume, first stuff with packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper. Be careful to keep the body doubles' shape the same while the foam expands. Working with small sections at a time should help.

The nice thing about Pintrest is that when you click on the link it takes you to the original site of the pin. This link takes you to the step by step directions for this project. My only contribution to this was suggesting expanding foam.
