    Tyecliff Castle (Florida)

The Wackenhut Mansion: In the late 1970s, my friends & I would sneak into a nearby gated community to see a glimpse of the lights from this castle across the water. It was also a great place to watch for shooting stars! The Wackenhut Mansion consisted of four buildings, the property had over 2.8 acres; it included a moat, a tower, a pub & a man made cliff. The compound encompassed 18,000 sq. ft. with 57 rooms. It was sold October 2003 for $10,500,000.00 and was demolished in 2007.

If you are familiar with Wackenhut's castle, you definitely know S. Florida. As this was being built we couldn't imagine who would be living there. Never saw such a huge home. Took our boat behind this in 87.
