My first foray into cables. It's a red owl hat I made for my niece for Christmas last year. There were matching mittens, but I didn't take a picture of those. EPIC pattern from Penguin Purls (see link). If the cabling instructions are confusing, there are tons of good instructional videos on YouTube.
I started making mittens last year, when still very new to using double pointed needles. The instructions for this pattern are very easy to follow, and the mittens are quite nice (if basic). Be sure to check your gauge first though. I didn't do that right off the bat, and my first pair came out rather loose.
Hoot Owl Knit Fingerless Mitts / by BrambleberryCottage on Etsy, $18.25 I had such a great response to these last year that I decided to add them to our shoppe for the holiday season again this year. Great Gift for the owl-lover in your life!
