    SAN MARCO MONASTERY, FLORENCE, ITALY. The Italian painter, known as Fra Angelico, was a monk here, and painted frescoes in each monk's cell. It is now a museum. A wonderful place to visit.

    In the Convento di San Marco in Florence, each of the monk's tiny white cells has a fresco of a scene from the life of Christ, painted by Fra Angelico. This is the Annunciation, in Cell 3.
