I just love the textures here! I took this photo the year I was an AFS exchange student to Colombia from the USA (1984-1985).

Spiral Grass (Moraea tortilis) is found in Namaqualand, Southern Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The flowers are white to blue with yellow spots. *Full Sun *Medium water *Grows from seeds/bulbs

Nice use of a planter (looks like a converted pipe in strawberry-planter style) to add vertical interest to a succulent garden.

what a strange plant.... Symplocarpus renifolius is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.5 m (1ft 8in). . It is in flower from Feb to April, and the seeds ripen from Aug to September. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Insects. Poisonous.

Trachyandra is a genus of plants similar to Albuca, both bulbs belonging to the order Asparagales and both native to South Africa. And, like Albuca, some Trachyandra produce transfixingly tortuous foliage, like the unidentified species in this photo.
