I like dip dyeing. Especially if you start with a colored shirt and apply a complimentary color (like yellow shirt and red dye). If you want the added color to be gradient. Dip bottom 2". Remove half of the dye and add that much plain water. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat working your way up the shirt by 3-4" increments.
