No Scrub Method for cleaning stove burner grates: Seal in a plastic bag with a little ammonia (doesn't need to cover grates). Let sit overnight and the ammonia fumes will break down burnt on grease, etc. Next day, wipe clean with sponge.

No scrub way to clean stove burners ... seal it in a ziploc bag with 1/4 cup ammonia overnight. In the morning, wipe off burner. The burner does not need to soak in lots of ammonia, it's the fumes that do the work. The site said it's a good idea to put the bag on a cookie sheet outside overnight ... in case it springs a leak.

An easy spring cleaning tip for one of the worst jobs in the house! So easy to do this! You don't even need elbow grease! Take the disgusting, yucky burner and seal it up in a big Ziploc-type bag with about 1/4 cup of ammonia and let it sit overnight.
