Rope ~ Hitchcock's "filmed play experiment" shot in continuous 10-minute takes, follows two school friends who kill a man for the "intellectual thrill" of it, then hide the body in their apartment while giving a party. James Stewart stars as the boys' ex-teacher who uncovers the crime. John Dall, Farley Granger co-star.

Suspicion (1941) is a romantic psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and starring Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine as a married couple. It also stars Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nigel Bruce, Dame May Whitty, Isabel Jeans, Heather Angel, and Leo G. Carroll.
Oh, yes... this movie gave me CHILLS n' THRILLS - that drive along the coast. "Suspicion" (1941)
Alfred Hitchcock's 'Suspicion', 1941 - Cary Grant plays the suave, but dangerous Johnny Aysgarth, a handsome gambler who meets pretty & shy Lina, (Joan Fontaine) on a train trip in England. Lina is immediately captivated by Johnny's light-hearted charm, a quick courtship ensues; but after they're married Lina sees a dramatically different side to her new husband. A slow-burning, lasting suspenseful, Hitchcock classic!

To Catch a Thief is a 1955 romantic thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, from a screenplay by John Michael Hayes based on the 1952 novel of the same name by David Dodge. The movie stars Cary Grant as a retired cat burglar who has to save his reformed reputation by catching a new "cat" preying on the wealthy tourists of the French Riviera. Grace Kelly stars opposite him as his romantic interest in her final film with Hitchcock.
Alfred Hitchcock's 'To Catch A Thief', 1955 - This is not your standard Hitchcock fare, it's very unlike his psychological thrillers; in fact there's very little mystery in it. But it features breathtaking color photography of the French Riviera, which won an Oscar. And it has Cary Grant & Grace Kelly in two of the most iconically romantic roles ever. As Grace's screen mother, Jessie Royce Landis dazzles with her wealthy but down to earth style. A masterpiece of 50s film making.

Rope (1948), dir. by Alfred Hitchcock - The trivia of the film--Hitchcock's first Technicolor, the "real time" illusion/"one shot" myth, filmed in one room, in-studio, in 10-minute takes, the implied homosexuality, one of the "5 lost Hitchcocks"--almost overshadow the movie itself. This is a taut psychological thriller, brimming with fine writing, dialog and acting. Add Hitchcock's brilliant direction. Classic, smart and stylish. http://www.openculture.com/2013/11/the-10-hidden-cuts-in-rope.html

beetleinabox: Image from Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958). Text spoken by the narrator in Chris Marker’s Sans Soleil (1983): He wrote me that only one film had been capable of portraying impossible memory — insane memory: Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo. In the spiral of the titles he saw time covering a field ever wider as it moved away, a cyclone whose present moment contains, motionless, the eye. In San Francisco he had made his pilgrimage to all the film’s locations: the florist Podesta Baldocchi, where James Stewart spies on Kim Novak — he the hunter, she the prey. Or was it the other way around? The tiles hadn’t changed. He had driven up and down the hills of San Francisco where Jimmy Stewart, Scotty, follows Kim Novak, Madeline. It seems to be a question of trailing, of enigma, of murder, but in truth it’s a question of power and freedom, of melancholy and dazzlement, so carefully coded within the spiral that you could miss it, and not discover immediately that this vertigo of space in reality stands for the vertigo of time. He had followed all the trails. Even to the cemetery at Mission Dolores where Madeline came to pray at the grave of a woman long since dead, whom she should not have known. He followed Madeline — as Scotty had done — to the Museum at the Legion of Honor, before the portrait of a dead woman she should not have known. And on the portrait, as in Madeline’s hair, the spiral of time.

'Strangers on a Train', 1951 - Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Starring Farley Granger, Robert Walker & Ruth Roman. Hitchcock's film version of Patricia Highsmith's book was a vast improvement. With his stylish camera work, searing close-ups of both Robert Walker & Farley Granger, he created a master work of psychological suspense & terror. Farley Granger plays the unsuspecting Guy Haines with a self confident air; until Bruno jettisons Guy's life into a living nightmare.

Saul Bass, film poster for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, 1958. The tradition of hand-drawn lettering goes back to the German expressionist films of the 1920s. These films were pioneers of the horror genre and created a film world of oblique angles and vertiginous perspectives. The lettering for these films rejected the curves and serifs of traditional typefaces for something altogether more edgy and visceral. Read more: guardian

Alfred Hitchcock. "Rope" (1948) may be Hitchcock's strangest movie. It's actually a filmed stage play using only one set. Inspired by the Leopold & Loeb thrill killing.
Rope is often found in popular culture, as here in this 1948 Alfred Hitchcock film. James Stewart stars in a film where two students strangle another in a bid for the 'perfect crime'.
Alfred Hitchcock's Rope First of all it's a Hitchcock and Stewart film so that makes it awesome from the start, but what is so great about this movie is that you know from the very beginning who the murderer is and that the entire movie takes place in one setting - the murderer's home.
Rope - Alfred Hitchcock - brilliant film where the entire film is acted on one set with only perhaps 6 or 7 cuts in the filming. It is also vaguely based on the Leopold and Leob case. Starring James Stewart
Rope (1948) - James Stewart, John Dall, Farley Granger, Edith Evanson, Douglas Dick one of my top five hitch films all set as aone room play the casting is perfect the script and premise of the story is clever and for the lack of movement and change of scene hitch uses all his trickery to build a heap of tension and atmoshere
"Rope", 1948. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. James Stewart as a professor that comes to a party only to discover a murder. Notice the uncut 1st seven minutes of continuous filming, a first back then....
