1984 - George Orwell I avoided school assigned books like the plague until this one...my sophomore year of high school. 1984 was a great experience that will always give me nightmares of rat helmets and big brother!
1984 ....George Orwell read it in high school, pushed through it for testing. Read it again last year it scared the living crap out of me. Great book. Great author.
1984 - George Orwell Winston Smith works for the Ministry of Truth in London, chief city of Airstrip One. Big Brother stares out from every poster, the Thought Police uncover every act of betrayal. When Winston finds love with Julia, he discovers that life does not have to be dull and deadening, and awakens to new possibilities.
1984: George Orwell In a world controlled by a totalitarian government, constantly under the watchful eye of Big Brother, Winston Smith struggles against the oppression of free consciousness. He must commit the worst of all crimes, a Thoughtcrime, to continue his forbidden love affair with Julia in order to prove he has retained some of his humanity.
George Orwell -1984. One of my favorite books. It reminds me north Korea

I love both beautiful books in general and the Lord of the Rings in general, so this beautiful leather bound edition makes me very happy. In particular, I love how the three covers lined up together form the door to Moria.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern was such a beautiful read about a circus that comes to town randomly and is open only from dusk to dawn. Also, Celia and Marco are swept up in a challenge where they are unsure of all the rules. . . Written with the most beautiful imagery, I literally want to start wearing only black and white with a red accent piece.
I love this book. Love.#Repin By:Pinterest++ for iPad#

INTP = "The Thinker" =Traits: Abstract, rational, ingenious, independent ~~~ Book: This type is the most likely to enjoy reading up on philosophy, as they think very abstractly (see: Mr. Ramsay from "To the Lighthouse"). Huxley's blend of scientific insights and social commentary in the classic book, "Brave New World" would probably appeal to them.

I know that Brown Girl in the Ring and Brave New World have basically nothing in common except for that it takes place far into the future, but I couldn’t help but to think about those two together. I read Brave New World my senior year of high school (one of the few I actually read, I thought I so read a couple before I graduate) and it was actually my favorite book I read in high school. "Community, Identity, Stability" is the motto of Aldous Huxley's utopian World State. Here everyone consumes daily grams of soma, to fight depression, babies are born in laboratories, and the most popular form of entertainment is a "Feelie," a movie that stimulates the senses of sight, hearing, and touch. Huxley foreshadowed many of the practices and gadgets we take for granted today. #libraries #banned books

1984 (Everyman's Library)
1984 presents a startling and haunting vision of the world, so powerful that it is completely convincing from start to finish. No one can deny the power of this novel, its hold on the imaginations of multiple generations of readers, or the resiliency of its admonitions... A classic, and easily the greatest, most haunting book I've ever read. Everyone MUST read.

Animal Farm - George Orwell Such a sad story in the aspect of how real it is with the real world. "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." The sad motto. Farm animals that take over the farm to live a better life not run by humans, only to have things go back to the way things were before, except the "superior" animals take charge instead of the humans. Entertaining, psychological thriller. Best part was that characters were believable. Some interesting twists. T.s.
*Gone Girl - one reviewer's comments: Gillian Flynn has handed you a martini made with battery acid instead of vermouth and you think it's the greatest martini you've ever had. It is disturbing and compelling and intriguing. An amazing thriller (so much better than the movie)!

Stephen King's "Misery" a Vintage Collectible 1987 Edition
This book, in my opinion, is the best fiction book Stephen King has written. Not only is it terrifying but it gives you a spot on look inside a writer's mind.

Misery - Stephen King. A favorite. Again, the movie doesn't do it justice and ends differently than the book!
Misery by Stephen King. Book #37 for 2015. If you're familiar with King then you know he swears a decent amount in his books, but generally it's not excessive & fits the story/characters. Otherwise excellent book, truly disturbing & scary, great read.
Misery, by Stephen King. Not gonna lie, I read this ever year. It's my favorite book by Stephen King. Every time I read it, the way its written makes me react as if it were the first time I have read it. Really ramped up my fascination with claustrophobic stories, stuff that focused more on psyche than anything else. Love it!
My mom has a huge stephen king book collection so ive read most of them, but this one was one of my favs<3

Recently I was asked the top ten books that impacted me. I realized I didn't have them captured here, so I am adding them to this board. I read this in 5th or 6th grade the first time and again in high school. We watched the old movie in high school.
“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.” ― George Orwell, 1984
1984- George Orwell 1984 presents a "negative utopia", that is at once a startling and haunting vision of the world — so powerful that it's completely convincing from start to finish. No one can deny the power of this novel, its hold on the imaginations of entire generations of readers, or the resiliency of its admonitions — a legacy that seems to grow, not lessen, with the passage of time. (Cult Classic)
As "Big Brother" gets more involved in our daily lives I often think back to this popular book.
