Building Word Families puzzle game. This is a great activity for the students to make words and be able to push their sounds.
Literacy station ideas. toss the pom-pom into the muffin tin. Read the word family on which the pom-pom lands. Write a word from the word family on a paper. Continue as time allows. Could work for older kids using prefixes and suffixes - maybe on dice?
I programmed a bunch of little gingerbread men with the chunk words, cut them out, and placed them on a little cookie sheet. I labeled three paper plates with the chunks and the kids got to use a spatula to move the Gingerbread from the baking sheet to the corresponding paper plate.
