This long-forgotten gem of a cleaning agent may be used with a little water or vinegar to lift even the most stubborn stains. Unattractive grout driving you batty? Mold and mildew stains got you reaching for the Prozac? Burner pans and casserole dishes giving you fits? Cream of Tartar is your new best friend.
Cleaning with cream of tartar. There are wonderful household cleaners you can make without using lots of chemicals. There are some great sounding ideas, but I haven't tried them, so I cannot say if they all work in equal measure. Also, I think you might want to buy in bulk if you were going to use cream of tartar this way.
Use Vinegar and Baking Soda to Recharge Your Towels

Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and one cup vinegar, then a second time with hot water and half cup baking soda. DIY Fabric Whitener It is SO simple and can’t believe that it works. You take one cup of cream of tartar (used in baking for some frosting to make them white, so that’s why this makes so much sense) and three cups of water.
