Change not-so-nice view into enliven, colored, energy stimulated

This room reminds me of a book I read as a child. The name escapes me now but much of it was set in a Victorian house owned by an old explorer, and it was filled with curios and plants collected on his travels. Funny how an image can take you back so far with no warning, and wonderful how books stay with you, sometimes so quietly you don't even know they are there.... BDF
