    This is a picture of freed slaves from Louisiana. As you can see, the little girl is very fair, and the little boy is very dark. Some fair skinned African Americans later disappeared into the white world & "passed" as white, to live without fear and the stigma of being Black in America. Their descendants don't even know that their ancestors was African American. With everyone tracing their family tree, via records and DNA, a lot of people have been surprised at their ancestry.
