Sad but true, most of the vegetable varieties have gone extinct. This image of the Food Variety Tree. It’s based on a study from 1983 by the Rural Advancement Foundation International, which “compared USDA listings of seed varieties sold by commercial U.S. seed houses in 1903 with those in the U.S. National Seed Storage Laboratory in 1983. The survey, which included 66 crops, found that about 93 percent of the varieties had gone extinct.” A great incentive to buy & plant heirloom seeds.

Almost 1 billion people suffer from chronic hunger worldwide with Sub-Saharan Africa in second place. However, if the MDCs help the LDCs by investing, providing them with resources, and teaching them the ways of agriculture... we would solve this huge issue. We have an abundant amount of resources and everyone should have access to them.

People are hungry not because there isn't enough food produced but because our food system is broken. In fact, 80% of the world's hungry are directly involved in food production.

Although this infographic focuses on just the subject of food production, it does have some interesting information about the lack of water in food production. The information is shown quite well visually due to the use of colours and the different ways of showing the information.
