Make any boots or shoes thermal for the winter: wool inserts. Can buy this batting, matting, whatever it's called at Walmart, Joann Fabrics, etc. Especially nice for peeps like me who get cold easily. Come spring, I will take out the inserts, wrap individually in tissue paper, stack in a plastic bag and store them with my sweaters.
