    Florence, Italy -- Statue of David, is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by the Italian artist Michelangelo. It is a 5.17-metre marble statue of a standing male nude. The statue represents the Biblical hero David, a favoured subject in the art of Florence.

Michelangelo’s David, hand detail. This photo was taken by Photo Tractatus. I love how it focused in on one spot of such a legendary art piece! It shows a great amount of detail that one wouldn't catch by all of the usual pics of the entire sculpture. Beautiful.
