Many stores had a Coke box when I was young.
Coca Cola, Remember, Vending Machine, Coke Machine, Cocacola, Pop Machines
I remember a store that had a Coke machine like this. You had to hand guide the glass bottle to the end of the row and over the barrier that your dime had opened. As soon as the bottle cleared the barrier, it sealed up again, preventing a second bottle from being removed until another dime was entered.
I remember the store near our house had a Coke machine like this.---Coke always seemed colder in those glass bottles.
I remember a store that had a Coke machine like this. Had to pull it out just right or you would not get your soda!
All stores had a coke machine like this! And if you're as old as dirt like I am you remember when the exterior was a bit less refined and there were two lids that opened on a bit longer chest ... and all that was inside was water filled with ice and soda pop, not just Coke. Lots of places left it outside by the front door and you just paid at the inside counter and took your drink when you left. Or, like me, stole a hunk of ice too!
Ice cold Coca Cola in the bottle @ most service stations (do you remember those?)

The candy that popped and fizzed in our mouths....it was rumored that if you swallowed a bunch of pop rocks and then drank Pepsi, that your stomach could explode!

Chocks Vitamins. My mom gave me these when I was a kid, before Flintstones Chewable Vitamins and PALS came out.
Chocks Vitamins. OMG, I liked all of them!!! When the line between vitamins and candy started to blur. I had completely forgotten about these.

Prell Shampoo - just put a 'quarter size' drop in palm and shampoo and rinse - I remember when they were still in glass bottles. Still the best clarifying shampoo on the market, especially if you colored your hair too dark.
Remember Prell Shampoo? When the glass bottles were replaced by a "shatter proof" plastic one in the early 70s, my friend decided to see if it was shatter-proof - it was not!
Prell Shampoo. I remember the commercial and they would drop a pearl into the shampoo to show how thick it was. Actually it was kind of like janitor in a drum because it was so hard on your hair.

Mountain Dew in glass bottles that said, "It'll tickle yore innards!" Yeah, one of my worst childhood memories. I got my innards "tickled" when a yellow jacket flew inside the bottle and ended up stinging me all over the inside of my mouth. Wouldn't drink a Mountain Dew until probably 20 years later.
Invented in the 1940s in Tennessee, Mountain Dew was meant to be mixed with whiskey. In fact, its bottles were designed to look like moonshine, and the original Mountain Dew labels featured outhouses, stills, and hay-chewing yokels

hot water bottle
Cold, Childhood Memories, 70S, Retro, Memories, Hot Water Bottles, Boomer
before heating pads there were hot water bottles Loved mine! Great for your feet in bed...till morning when you stretched and encountered an ice cold bag down there!!
hot water bottle @ MorMOr's house for cramps, a stomach ache, or any other thing that ached. most people had these because we didn't have heating pads with ele.
Remember there being a hot water bottle in the linen closet. Not sure if I ever actually saw it used, but did see a heating pad used frequently after they replaced the hot water bottles! I now own a new retro- version of one, just in case the electric goes out.
hot water bottle. I have a male friend, in his 70s' now, who told me he was scared of this. I laughed until I cried, but I understood.
hot water bottle--when I was not feeling so good, Mom would fill one of these and put it in my bed, then rub my chest with vicks and plop a warm towel or piece of flannel over my chest and off to bed it was. In the winter when the house would be cold we all took either a hot water bottle or a 1/2 gallon canning jar filled with hot water to bed. Thank goodness the electric blanket came along.
HOT WATER BOTTLE - Before heating pads. The thick rubber container was filled with hot tap water and applied to the part of the body that needed heat. Loved them.
Mum put a hot water bottle at the bottom of our beds to warm it up before bedtime. I still prefer using a hot water bottle over an electric heating pad as it is safer. I've got a few with different tartan covers.
hot water bottle... You really couldnt do without one in autumn and winter - were the winters really that cold?
