I have a daughter who seems hates challenges. She'd rather get mad and give up than persevere. She does not have what professor Angela Duckworth calls grit and author Carol Dweck calls it a growth mindset. And I'm sad. (And kind of worried, too.)
A great visual way of illustrating to both younger and older clients the concept that you only have control of the things inside your inner circle...[site also provides other helpful visual support tools]
Repinning to read later...Give kids a "Secret Service" mission. Tell them for 1 week, they have to do something for someone else without "blowing their cover." A fun, interactive way to get kids serving others.
Such a cool idea! This will help each student feel important, needed, and supported in the classroom. I would maybe allow other students to write complements for their peers as well (but make sure that everyone is included, not just a few people). This can also help to create great bonds between students and teachers. Everyone wants to feel important!
