How to clean every bit of a HE front load washer. I CLEANED THE DRUM TODAY, AND IT WAS NASTY!!! THERE WAS EVEN A BOW TIE THERE FROM RAINIER'S OLD JOB IN CLARKSVILLE THAT WAS THICKLY COATED WITH GOOPY CRAP (NOT LITERALLY, BUT FABRIC SOFTNER ETC) I'm going to do the vinegar stuff tomorrow with high heat
Once a month, add a cup of Distilled White Vinegar and a cup of baking soda during the HOT cleaning cycle. pour them directly into the drum. Then, add about ½ cup of vinegar and ½ cup of baking soda into the detergent dispenser.
Uses for White vinegar weed killer (spray generously on all parts of weeds, works best for weeds that get sunlight) dishwasher additive (put in place of spot remover liquid) Glass Cleaner (combined with a few drops of Dawn) Fabric Softener (6:3:2 hot water:vinegar:hair conditioner, mix water and conditioner first then add vinegar)
[March, 2012 UPDATE] – I noticed that since I’ve been using this homemade powder laundry detergent, my washing machine does not get mildew-y as fast. I read that liquid detergent coats the surface and makes it attract more lint and mildew. May be that’s the reason but since I’ve been using the powder detergent, my washing machine hasn’t been as dirty or mildew-y. More reason why I love my homemade powder detergent formula!
