Sentence Writing - Expanding, adding who, what, when, where, why

an 8 x 11 sized "poster" created to help my second grade students to remember to write better sentences. It helps them to remember to include details in their sentences and try to paint a picture with words, including verbs, adjectives, nouns, etc.

A great visual rubric. I love this! It is so important for students to see models! Using a rubric scale to compare weak and strong writing models is a great way for students to begin to reflect on their own writing!


Instructional Chart: This chart can be placed in the classroom writing center to give students synonyms to replace simple words. It can be used both as a tool for their writing or as a dictionary to decipher word meanings during reading.
