There were many hours when no programing was showing on TV..so you would just watch the TEST PATTERN and listen to a constant "who-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o" tone till a program would come on the TV.
Test Patterns, Remember, Television, Childhood Memories, Indian Head, Tv Test, Tvs, Memory Lane
TV Test Pattern, After the National Anthem was played, television shut off each night. Remember in the early 1970's when Tom Snyder had a late night talk show that stayed on until 1:00.
indian head tv test pattern - I'd often see this when I would babysit late at night. TVs would shut down at midnight or so and this would show up with a horrible bleating sound. No more tv for the night!
The Indian Head Test Pattern was a black and white television test pattern which was introduced in 1939 by RCA of Harrison, New Jersey as a part of the RCA TK-1 Monoscope. Its name comes from the original art of a Native American featured on the card.
TV Test Pattern!! Can you hear the sound?? (If you remember seeing this, you can remember hearing it, too!)
The Indian Head Test Pattern became familiar to the large post-war Baby Boom TV audiences in America from 1947 onwards; it would often follow the formal television station sign-off after the United States national anthem.
TV Test Pattern -- no TV after midnight!--actually at first we only had television from 7 until 9--I think--d and that was when I quite old. d
Who remembers when every TV station signed off at midnight, leaving this "test pattern" on the screen? Ah the famous Indian Head Test Pattern.
Who remembers when every TV station signed off at midnight, leaving this "test pattern" on the screen? Ah the famous Indian Head Test Pattern. I suppose that wouldn't be pc anymore ...

"The Brady Bunch" reboot from Vince Vaughn in the works at CBS - Celebrity Circuit - CBS News
The Brady Bunch is an American show created by Sherwood Schwartz. It aired from September 26, 1969 to March 8, 1974 on ABC. The series stars Robert Reed and Florence Henderson, both who had four children and married to create an even larger family. Though the show only aired for five years and never reached the top ten ranks, the cast reunited several times to film reunion movies and was the foundation for several spin-offs on television, becoming an icon for American pop culture.

The teacher's overhead projector with transparencies. oh yeah...finally got rid of mine last year now that I have a smartboard in my room!!
My teacher just parted with his today... Our librarian/tech lady came in to take it and he wouldn't hand it over to her until he was convinced that it was completely imprudent to spend his budget on $40 overhead projector bulbs.... it was the funniest and saddest thing I think I've ever seen..
Overhead projectors in school ...teacher's would have clear sheets of plastic with markers to use for presentations in class
The overhead projector - Some of my teachers in high school were still using these!! Ah, limited public school budgets.
