Builders gave houses arches, pointed windows, and other elements borrowed from the middle ages. Some Victorian Gothic Revival homes are grand stone buildings like miniature castles. Others are rendered in wood. Small wooden cottages with Gothic Revival features are called Carpenter Gothic.
