This is an emotional coming-of-age story about a 10-year-old girl nicknamed Bones growing up in rural South Carolina. She must face poverty, a neglectful mother and even sexual abuse by someone close to her. This Emmy Award–winning movie features incredibly strong performances and was directed by the talented Angelica Huston. Based on Dorothy Allison’s book.
The Way We Were is a classic. Magnetic and irresistsble Redford and Streisand (before she became as unbearbly egoistic publicly) made a strange pairing both on and off the screen. But somehow the film still works and perfectly captures the era and theme it was meant to. Quite moving.
Chicago (2002) This is my favorite Broadway Musical and the movie is excellent. Renee Zellweger is fantastic and the soundtrack is fantastic. I have the whole album on my iPod. Not all Broadway shows translate well onto the big screen, IMHO this one does. / kj
