Toyokuni I (1769 - 1825) Angry Samurai - Fuji Arts Japanese Prints

Terrific okubi-e or large head portrait of a grimacing actor as a samurai. His arms are folded firmly across his chest and tucked into the sleeves of his kimono as he hunches forward with a sullen, angry frown. Drawn with expressive, bold line work, beautifully capturing the actor's intensity. A fantastic design and a great example of Toyokuni I's excellent kabuki prints.
