The days of the milkman

The milkman delivering the glass bottles of milk to the galvanized milkbox on our front porch in the mornings! The bottles had paper caps and the cream would rise to the top. We used to hide garter snakes in the milkbox when we were kids and freak out Mom!
A typical looking Milkman in the 1950's. I vividly remembering men who looked just like this delivering dairy products to our house. Nice, beautiful glass milk bottles with cardboard seals that I got to pop out. The nice men - all were very friendly and smiled - also left other delicious things like butter, cottage cheese and eggs. It was a wonderful service.
A typical looking Milkman in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Men who looked just like this delivered dairy products from house to house in glass milk bottles with cardboard seals that popped out. You could also order other things like butter, cottage cheese and eggs, which were delivered the next delivery day. It was a great service and it's unfortunate such things no longer exist.
We used to have a milk man...Mid 1950's when every suburban home enjoyed home delivery of milk, cream and eggs. The milk came in glass bottles.

Old milk can. My aunt and uncle had a dairy farm. We milked a lot of cows! And I rode with my other uncle's on mile truck route. We got up at 3:30 every morning to head out on the route to pick up the farmers milk.
My grandmother had one of these sitting on her front step when I was a child. It was fascinating to me as a child, now I'm on the lookout for my own old metal milk jug.
