    March 5 1945, Lena Baker, an African-American mother of three, was electrocuted at the Georgia State Prison in Reidsyille. She was convicted for the fatal shooting of E. B. Knight, a white Cuthbert, GA mill operator she was hired to care for after he broke his leg. She was 44 and the only woman ever executed in Georgia’s electric chair.

    Carl Austin Hall met Bonnie Heady in a bar in1953 and moved in with her two days later. Hall let her in on his plan to kidnap 6 yr. old Bobby Greenlease and extract $600,000 ransom from the parents in exchange for the boy’s safe return. But Hall and Heady never intended to carry out their end of the bargain. Hall considered the boy evidence. She shot Bobby at point-blank range, killing him. On December 18, 1953, Hall and Heady were executed together in Missouri’s gas chamber.

    St Louis Connection: After an all night drive kidnappers of 7 yr. old Bobby Greenlease: Carl Austin Hall & Bonnie B. Heady wound up in this dingy apartment at the Coral Gables Motel on Hwy 66 in St Louis, MO. Hall became suspicious of persons in the vicinity of the motel during the afternoon of October 6, 1953, and moved to an apartment at the Townhouse Hotel in St. Louis. Since things were'nt going so well & fed up with Bonnie, Carl gave her $2000 and left her here.

    Robert Cosgrove Greenlease, Jr., known as Bobby, was six years old and the son of Robert Cosgrove Greenlease, Sr., a wealthy automobile dealer who resided in Mission Hills, Kansas City, Missouri.

    Bobby Greenlease, 6, was the son of a wealthy businessman & was kidnapped by Bonnie Heady. After taking Bobby captive, Heady’s boyfriend, Hall, fatally shot Bobby. They then sent a demand to Bobby’s father. Hall & Heady collected the ransom, then split up & waited for things to “cool off.” Hall was caught when a prostitute saw the money & called the police. Hall eventually implicated Heady. Police found Bobby’s body buried in her backyard. Hall & Heady were both executed in 1953.

    The home of kidnapping victim 7 yr. old Bobby Greenlease. -A few hours after the kidnapping, the Greenleases received the first ransom letter concerning the return of their son. On 9/28/53 it demanded $600,000. The kidnappers promised Bobby’s safe return in 24 hours and as long as there were no tricks in delivering the money -Unknown to the family, the kidnappers had killed the boy soon after the abduction and buried the body near Heady’s house in St. Joe, MO

    At approximately 10:55 a.m. on September 28, 1953, Sister Morand of the French Institute of Notre Dame De Sion, a school for small children in Kansas City, Missouri, answered the door and was confronted by a woman who said she was the aunt of Bobby Greenlease.

    The Clutter family, November 15, 1959. Killed by Dick Hickock and Perry Smith in December of 1959 after they attempted to rob the house and found there were no large amounts of money. When the home invasion went terribly wrong, Hickock and Smith murdered the entire family and fled the scene. The case is written about by Truman Capote in the book titled "In Cold Blood". Hickock and Smith were both executed by hanging just after midnight on April 14, 1965.
