Today, in honor Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play in the Major League, all players and coaches wore his number 42 instead of their own numbers. Robinson's number has been universally retired by all MLB teams. After the Yankees Mariano Rivera finally retires, the number 42 will only be worn on Jackie Robinson Day.
