Uranus

This image from the Hubble Space Telescope clearly shows the equatorial rings of Uranus, a southern cloud deck and a bright cloud in the northern hemisphere. Uranus is unique in that its axis is tilted to align with the solar system elliptic plane.

Jupiter.

Mass one-thousandth that of the Sun but is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Jupiter is classified as a gas giant along with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Planète Uranus

A painting of Uranus from before the Voyager II encounter with the comparatively bland photos that were eventually recovered. Even so, the planet, despite its relative monocolour, is still surprisingly beautiful.

In the Shadow of Saturn. January 2009 the Cassini spacecraft was orbiting Saturn and drifted in giant planet's shadow for about 12 hours. Far in the distance, at the left, just above the bright main rings, is the almost ignorable pale blue dot of Earth.

Uranus

The planet Uranus, seventh planet from the sun, is a giant ball of gas and liquid and was the first planet discovered with a telescope.
