“She reminded me that the world was really one bee yard, and the same rules work fine in both places. ..Act like you know what you're doing, even if you don't. Above all, send the bees love. Every little thing wants to be loved.” ― Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees

I read this as a teenager, and then fell in love with the movie. This is a wildly compelling story about a family on the Oregon coast, the Stampers, who fight against a bitter strike that rages through their small lumber town along the Oregon coast. The family dynamics as well as the rivalries with other families make this a classic drama played out time and again in great lit throughout the ages.

Everyone should read this book at some point in their lives

"The Never Ending Story", Michael Ende - After years of requesting it for Christmas, my mum finally tracked down for me the version of this book that I so coveted. It is printed in red and green ink to differentiate between the action that takes place in the story, and the story within the story. Quite a thing of beauty!
