Italy Scott #1883 variety (22 May 1992) Columbus Presenting Natives, Columbus Announcing his Discovery, Columbus in Chains. All appears well. The variety is in the inscription (top of S/S scene): I Viaggi di Colombo (The Voyages of Columbus)...the letters gg in Viaggi should be identical. Here, the right g is missing the serif (a slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter) at the top. Italy #1883-88 are similar in design to United States #230-45.
